The flamethrower to me feels like a weapon that is only really useful for a specific ‘area of effect’ situation. But I’m much more fan of the Cutter, Pulse Rifle, Ripper, and Line gun combo.

The only time the flamethrower really feels great is when I can burn pregnant spawn and to a lesser extent dividers (and their parts). Whether it was the balance of the force gun or the weird way the Necros would respond to the flamethrower, they just felt very underwhelming. It just felt more hands-on with the enemies than blowing fire at them. It’s not for nothing that dismemberment (either with plasma cutter, line gun and ripper (for these up close intimate moments) became a staple of this franchise. The other weapons gave much more tactile and direct contact with the enemy. Regrettably as a Dead Space player, after I tried the force gun and flamethrower, I never became a fan. Visually that is certainly true and it has convincing “makeshift” details. The account mentions that it’s now made hotter than before. Just imagine how this will look with all the Necromorph flesh layers reacting to it, and I can’t wait to be extra sadistic and let them stumble at me while their bones are all but held together with skin and some leftover muscle!Īnd here is the flamethrower. And then I’d like to just grind these blades into necro limbs and enjoy their withering efforts of trying to lunge at me, and that slowly result in multiple parts falling off. Something makes them able to spin while suspended in the air and you clearly see this emitter on this contraption.ĭuring the many playthroughs of the original, I’m sometimes in my “who’s laughing now” mode. The ripper blades now have jagged edges and the tool itself shows more mechanical details that give it a more believable touch. You can clearly see how much more complex and sophisticated they can make these assets look nowadays.
